Year 2013 : Memorable Programmes

Year 2013 : Memorable Programmes 1. NDC supported to provide a special "Capacity Development Training" to Tharu Community Development Forum (TCDF), Bhurigaon, Bardiya in the month of February 2013. The training was participated by some 15 executive members of the Forum and its staff with a residential arrangement in the homestays of Dallagaun, Suryapatuwa VDC, Bardiya. 2.NDC supported UNDP/MEDEP for conducting "PRA and Social Mobilisation Training" to its field staff under Kathmandu APSO in the months of June and September, 2013. TWO separate slots were conducted for 6-day each. 3. NDC also supported UNDP/LGCDP- MOFALD for editing some of the environment-related Guidelines (in Nepali) developed under MOFALD-LGCDP in the months of June-August, 2013. The Guidelines have been published by the MOFALD very recently. 4. We are hoping NDC will have more assignments and projects in the year 2014. NDC has planned to expand its core team by hiring resource persons from different disciplines/ fields having Bachelors/ Masters and PhD degrees, particularly on the participatory development, rural development, human resources, tourism development, Livelihoods, etc. 5. Special Training Programmes held in Bardiya and Humla

NDC holds Special Training Programmes in Bardiya and Humla: 1. NDC conducted a 5-day special tailor-made training course on "Appreciative Participatory Planning and Action (APPA)" for the staff of Tharu Community Development Forum (TCDF), Bhurigaun, Bardiya, Nepal in September 2011. The programme was supported by the Development Fund (DF)Norway. The training imparted knowledge and skills on various aspects of PRA, participatory planning, appreciative approach to planning, monitoring and evaluation, report writing etc. The participants also practiced "APPA techniques" in the real field situation in one of the working VDCs of TCDF. There were altogether 15 participants representing the executive committee members and the staff of TCDF, Bhurigaun. The NDC Director/ HRD Specialist CN Kanel designed and conducted the training. On behalf of the organiser, at central level, Mr. Yogi Kayastha, Manager of HDI, coordinated with the trainer/NDC.
2. Similarly, in the month of December, 2011, NDC executed another training in Humla district, Nepal. The 5-day long training entitled "Professional Capacity Enhancement Training (PCET)" was attended by some 14 staff of Humla Development Initiative (HDI)/ SHIP Nepal & LI-BIRD Nepal. This training was also financially supported by DF Norway, the funding partner of HDI- Humla/ SHIP Nepal. The NDC Director/ HRD Specialist CN Kanel designed and conducted the training.As in the Bardiya training, on behalf of the organiser, at central level, Mr. Yogi Kayastha, Manager of HDI, coordinated with the trainer/NDC.

NDC Focus of 2011

NDC wants to focus its key activities/ consultancy services on rural tourism, home-stay development throughout the country. Special packages of planning, training, development and promotions are offered viewing the contexts of "Nepal Tourism Year- NTY : 2011". The activities of NDC will be conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Nepal Tourism Board, District Development Committees and INGOs and NGOs associated with tourism development interventions. Furthermore, partnerships with private companies/ corporate houses devoted in tourism promotion and marketing in Nepal will also be enhanced during the year.

NDC's prime focus will remain in the overall capacity development of above institutions and other individuals associated with community-based rural tourism promotion in Nepal.
